The most meaningful way to support your neighborhood school is to VOLUNTEER!  Saturn is pleased to welcome volunteers in many contexts, including:

CATCH Mentors
CATCH stands for Caring Adults Teaching Children How.  This program, developed at Community Magnet Elementary School, pairs a volunteer adult with a student to meet for one hour every week.  Saturn has participated for several years, and the results are powerful!

Following a helpful volunteer orientation, CATCH mentors and mentees spend their time together reading, working on homework, and getting to know each other.  Saturn teachers choose mentees who are likely to benefit from one-on-one time with a native English speaker or a consistent, engaged adult figure.

If you have just one hour per week to spend with a child, you can make an amazing difference! If you know you can commit the time, but you're not sure it can always be the same day and time, please join the program.  We're happy to work with you.

Extracurricular Programs
Are you an enthusiastic coach?  A retired piano teacher?  A devoted gardener?  Then Saturn wants YOU!  We welcome volunteers who can help us expand the extracurricular programming we offer to our students, including physical fitness and athletics, arts, and a whole range of science and art programming for the school garden we hope to build.

Classroom Helpers
Looking to do more?  Saturn's teachers welcome volunteers to help in the classroom!

Weekend Volunteers
The Rings of Saturn sponsor several volunteer work days throughout the year where community volunteers make a huge impact on our school.
